 Rating:  - Lots on Florence, some on Siena, less on other places..Fair enough - the title lets you know what you're getting, but those of us who only spent a day in Florence and the rest of the two weeks elsewhere might feel a bit short-changed. The street maps of Florence and Siena are excellent for getting a general idea of where you are, but not so good for actually finding a particular restaurant which the guide lists. The ideal combination is this and the Lonely Planet guide to Tuscany, which is lighter on the pictures but much more detailed. Rating:  - BrilliantThis is the best guide of Tuscany we have found so far to prepare our holiday, we have read other DK guides before and always been happy with the information they provide. The chapter on accommodation is particularly useful. The book consists of 336 beautifully illustrated pages with superb maps and street by street city plans with guide walks, it also has a road map in the back cover. With a third of the guide is dedicated to Florence there is plenty of information on the main buildings, palaces and churches and features a large number of little villages in the countryside. |
