We used this guide for Calgary, Banff and Jasper National Parks. Very well laid out, easy to use guide (prefer these to the lonely planet guides). It's informative without going into too much detail. The main places and activities it points you to are the best ones available.
It has a variety of useful maps for each place and useful details to know about the area. It has sections on history, the main sights to see, Hiking, other activities, nightlife, festivals/events, shopping, accommodation, food, getting there/around. This book was invaluable on a recent trip to Alberta and the Canadian Rockies. We used it to plan our trip and found it to be full of interesting and practical advice. The maps in it were excellent and more accurate then maps which we got when we arrived in Alberta. Not only does this book give good reviews of places to see, stay and eat, it also provides hiking trails and information about other outdoor activities. If you are thinking of visiting Alberta, then this is the only book you will need.
