Editorial Review:
Synopsis: Offers comprehensive coverage of Berlin nightclubs, Munich beer halls and peaceful Alps trails. This book provides insider tips from locals on their favourite German places, people and things, and a background on contemporary Germany cuisine as well as the traditional pleasures of sausages, beer and wine.

I have only recently discovered the delights of Germany, and this book provides a decent amount of information to get you started. The history bit at the front, maps and language bit at the back are just three of the particularly useful features of this book. A must for people travelling to Germany.

As me and a friend are planning a round the world trip this series of books has been a great help. In picking places where to go it's helpful to know whats there! Were mainly backpacking and using hostels so specific country guides aimed at this was essential. We needed to know campsites, country entry requirements, cost of living, activities, etiquette, transport options, do's and don'ts and most importantly what the food was like! As well as info on touring in campervans, car or footslogging. The book has it all and more. It covers all such topics and then reviews each place in the country individually. It has topics on law, car rental and purchase, gay and lesbians interests and so much more. If your travelling to this country ... Read More:

The book is very detailed about where to stay and where to eat, how to get there and how to get away, and even how to do your laundry. HOWEVER - it doesn't tell you what to see and do. The main attraction are described only briefly and many attraction are not mentioned at all (especially in Berlin and Munich). The book is very good for planning the logistic part of the trip but we needed other books and web sites to know what places to visit. This book is quite a disappointment compared to other Lonely Planet books I have used.

I found this book very useful to for young travellers. I can recommend this to all visitors in Germany. This book contains a lot of useful information about attractive places, mountain roads and places to stay. Excellent
