 Rating: - Very promisingI found the 2002 edition excellent and I'm sure the new edition will be at least as good. Background information is excellent, and the maps and details of individual places of interest (particularly archaeological sites) give all the information one needs to appreciate them in full. Only down side: not many photographs. Rating: - Very useful guide / great book on JordanI recently spent two weeks travelling through Jordan - my first trip to the Middle East - and took with me all the guidebooks I could find. This one was, by far, the best. Not only was it consistently accurate and useful, it also provided a lot of very interesting background information on the country's history, culture, and social life. I spent most of my time with Jordanian friends, who took me to local hotspots and out-of-the-way favorites, and it was almost frustrating to see that however obscure and apparently hidden the place, it was included in the book (the only exceptions, for those who really care: a great hole in the wall falafel place called "Al Kuds Cafeteria" on Rainbow Street in Amman, an equally cheap and fantastic ...
