.Kenny Rogers Sings the Gambler by: Grant Stewart October 05, 1998 I have to say that I was disappointed by this book. Not because of plot line (although there were one or two dodgy moments), but mainly because Grant's obvious sense of humour gave in too many times to triteness and cliché. Just when I thought he was about to say something profound, we got another helping of 'The Breakfast Club'-type philosophy. I am currenty 1/2-way through his follow-up novel, The Octopus Hunter, which seems to be an enormous improvement so far, though.
