Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A dark little treat!
Alot of people don't like it for certian lil things, I.E - think it's too dark, the ending was not happyily ever after. I for one liked all of it.

It's a dark, gripping, fay story. All the characters were enjoyable, and I found them alot better than the ones in the first book.

I actually liked the main girl in this one. The tattoo theme was a nice change, I liked how it was used as a plot device.

To sum it all up it's about light fay - facing dark fay. Leslie finds herself trapped in the dark fay's matters. You will love the leader of the dark fay. Not only is he dishy, he is also a caring person under all the bad guy image. He reminds me of Jack Sparrow of POTC ( both characters seem to be neither good or bad).

I just say read it. I don't understand why it gets alot of bad reviews, although people will and will not like it. I for one loved it. I was also glad for how it ended, it made such a nice change. It was not a bad ending at all. It ended up with everyone being happy, or at least getting on with their lives.

Read if you like dark/teen stories, but it is also for adults and anyone who enjoys reading about fay or dark matters.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - "What does it mean when nightmares dream of peace? When shadows wish for light?"
INK EXCHANGE is the sequel to WICKED LOVELY. The world that Marr has created is incredibly dark; the faeries in both novels are not the usual faeries you find in literature and the heroines of Marr's works are not the usual heroines either. This is life, warts and all.

INK EXCHANGE follows the story of Leslie, a young girl whose family life is a living nightmare - her father is a drunk and her brother is addicted to drugs. It is through her brother and his world that Leslie suffers terrible abuse, abuse which leaves her wanting to escape the pain and fear of her life, and ultimately to regain some control in her life. It is to this end that she decides to obtain a tattoo - a way of reclaiming her body. The tattoo she chooses features eyes set around a pair of wings - unbeknownst to her, this is the symbol of Irial, the King of the Dark Court. By having the tattoo, Leslie begins the process of becoming bound to him. And so, though this action, a world that was unknown to Leslie slowly begins to draw in around her. She is in danger, more than she knows. But can she resist the powers that are beginning to use her?

That is the basic premise. Along the way you see characters from WICKED LOVELY reappear - Keenan, Seth and of course Aislin. You also get the impression that the world that Marr created with WICKED LOVELY is being expanded and given more depth with INK EXCHANGE.
However, this novel does suffer from Marr's way of writing. There are times when everything seems a bit confused and repetitive. As with WICKED LOVELY, INK EXCHANGE revolves around a love triangle, with one male who seems slightly more appealing than the other, while the female has to fight with changing emotions and desires in order to choose who she really wants and how this ties into what she thinks is right for her, as well as others around her. Personally, I do not think that INK EXCHANGE is as good as WICKED LOVELY - the characters seem too much like carbon copies of the ones in the previous novel, making me have less compassion or interest in them this time around.
Having said that, INK EXCHANGE remains to be different from the usual fairytale genre, which brings a breath of fresh air to the literary world. It will be intersting to see where she takes the next novel and how it will add to what she has already created. As someone who likes my faeries with slightly more edge, I shall definitely check it out.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Dark faery tale
This is the sequel to Wicked Lovely. It's a dark faery tale; with the main character Leslie having been the victim of abuse that was instigated by her own brother. In an effort to hide her pain she decides to express herself by having a tattoo. She unwittingly chooses a design that incorporates the eyes of the Faery Lord of the Dark Realm. What follows is a tale that is darker than any other faery tale I've read. At times Marr seems to ramble and her writing is confusing, but this is a story that is well worth sticking with, as the suspense just builds and builds. I can't wait to see what Marr has in store for her readers next.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Courtesy of Teens Read Too
Torn up inside after her drug-dealer brother betrays her in the most horrible way, Leslie puts on a brave front with her friends, pretending her drunken dad isn't letting the bills pile up and hiding all her pain. Hoping to take back control over her body, she decides to get a tattoo, and picks out a special design at the tattoo parlor she often hangs out at. Unbeknownst to Leslie, that tattoo is the symbol of Irial, the king of the faerie Dark Court, designed to allow him to filter the unpleasant emotions that feed his court through her into him and his people.

As Leslie finds her vision changing and her feelings shifting in unpredictable ways, Niall, a faerie of the Summer Court who has always admired her, steps in, hoping to help her and keep Irial away. He has his own tangled feelings about Irial, whom he once counted as a friend. But as Leslie sinks further under Irial's thrall, enjoying the escape from the hurt and fear she'd been living with, only she can decide when to pull away--or whether she would rather stay with him, after all.

INK EXCHANGE is a darkly imaginative novel set in the same world as Marr's first novel, WICKED LOVELY. Readers will enjoy exploring the lives of some of that novel's minor characters and seeing more of the shadowy side of the faerie courts. They may find Leslie, Niall, and Irial less engaging than the spirited and perhaps more sympathetic narrators of WICKED LOVELY, but the trio still make for a fascinating "love" triangle as each deals with conflicting emotions and tries to decide what is right both for him or herself and for those who are counting on them.

The imagery is striking and evocative, and the politics of the different faerie courts is intriguing to explore. A great book for dark fantasy fans.
