- Generally good but I dont entirely trust the Law in it...
The Law express books are generally good at simplifying the law - Its true that they may be oversimple - but they are not designed as a text book and can give an interesting P.O.V in certain situations.
The only problem i found with this book, and which has made me cautious about trusting it is the glaring error on page 36 and 37 with regards to the state of the law, this book was published in 2007 and yet fails to mention that in that specific area (eggshell skull rule and loss resulting from claimants impecuniosity) the law has been different since 2003!!! - i have other books from 2004 which dont miss this point! In a law series this really is unnacceptable - you would have though somebody would have checked - Its not that difficult! I appreciate that it is not a complete guide to law, and typos can be expected, but you dont expect to have to correct the law in a law revision guide.
If you ignore the law error the points are really clear and easy to understand, especially the how to answer questions in each section.

Simplifies the law and although meant for revision I have used it for pre-seminar study and it has helped. Recommend thatit be used before lectures or seminars (as it puts the topic in perspective)and then also for revision.

This is a great book as an aide memoire for revision and the little mindmap at beginning of each chapter matches the way I try to organise my notes so it all seems to make sense.
Doesn't have copious amounts of case law but covers all the elements. Only omission I could see is that there is not much on the narrow rule (manufacturer's liability) and related product liability via the Consumer Protection Act 1987 so you will need another book such as the nutshells series.

This is the first review that I have written, but I felt that I had to because this book is so good. Not only is the book well structured, but there is also a link to a website, where you can test yourself. The tests are multiple choice to check what subjects you need to revise more on and also problem and essay questions. You get feedback on what the correct answer (multiple choice) should be and also suggested answers to the other questions.
All in all it is money well spent as you get so much more than just the book.

The title says it all - this book is 'better than all the rest' and, believe me, I've tried all the revisions books that exist in my attempt to get to grips with the law. I'm not the best student - too much time in the SU and not enough in the library (where is the library?). I'll be the first to admit that I don't do enough work and that revision is a real panic for me.
I bought this book to help me through the Jan exams and it saved my life. This was the only Law Express book that I got and I got a 2:1 for tort and scrapped a pass for my other two subjects where I used Nutshells (waste of money)and Key Notes (more waste of money). The books must've made the difference because I did just as little work in all three subjects. With tort, I was actually understanding what I was learning thanks to the clear explanations and brill diagrams but with the others I was just trying to remember stuff.
I wish that there were more of these in the series. I've got family, criminal justice and criminology to do and I'd like to be able to use Law Express to help me with those too.
If you are struggling with tort, because it is difficult, boring or badly taught, you need this book.
