Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An excellent companion for walking in Tenerife
This book has plenty of choice of routes - short to long, easy to tough and everything in between. We certainly found our pre-conceptions of the island overturned after doing just one route. What a beautiful, wild, dramatic place Tenerife is.

The walk descriptions are clear and entertaining and the maps are good and detailed. We would never have found these routes without the insider information of the authors, David & Ros Brawn.

The book selects the best walking regions of Tenerife and if you have time, try something from each area. If there is one criticism it would be that there are no routes for the extreme north-east of the island (The Anaga region). I hope that future editions may put this right.

Don't go to Tenerife without this book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This book is worth its weight in gold
There are so many excellent routes in this book that it is hard to know where to start. I had used Discovery Walking Guides books for Lanzarote, Menorca and Mallorca before so I expected a well researched, clearly written book with eye-opening routes that truly 'discover' Tenerife.

We had 2 weeks and walked about every other day. We have already booked to go again in the autumn to try to 'bag' more of these routes. The descriptions are clear and we found the extra details like timings, ascents and descents etc. most useful. and we have just got into GPS - this is absolute magic used with the Brawn's waypoints and routes.

Don't go to Tenerife without this book!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Useful but disapointing
This book is a good start for planning from the comfort of your armchair, however the style is rather amateurish. I was very disapointed that the book does not cover Teide (Spains highest mountain) other than to say only masochists would want to go there. Tenerife is a very easy place to go walking in terms of information, maps, transport and guiding services, all very cheap locally. I do like to have an impression of a location in advance before I go on walking holiday there though - I would probably pick the Cicerone guide next time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great walking escapes in Tenerife
34 Tenerife Walks saved my Spring break on Tenerife when we found our selves staying on a golf development; a "we choose your accommodation" cheapie package, it even had a good coastal escape route from the golf. Routes are well described giving the confidence to tackle the more adventurous routes later in the week.
I thought I knew much of Tenerife's walking but this book includes a lot of routes which are not in Landscapes or Rother books. "Taucho Tour" is a must in the South, along with "Table Mountain" Roque del Conde, and another ten southern routes all good half day routes ranging from easy to quite demanding. In the West you just have to walk "True Grit" (add in Lasso La Hoya for a really energetic day), "Saddle Up" and "Picnic at Hanging Rock" while in Las Canadas "Arenas Negras" "La Forteleza" and "Mighty Guagara" are all must walk routes. They even have a new western Paisaje Lunar route much more interesting than the eastern traditional route, which is also in the book. Only had time for "Los Organos" in the North and the description included the small forest path instead of the boring pista ascent that is in other books.
Mapping is excellent but to get the best out of Tenerife I would recommend the Tenerife Walkers Maps in 1:25,000 scale. I had the Super-Durable edition and it does exactly what it says on the cover - outlasts any paper map I have ever bought and should last for a good few years of tough use.
Buy the book and the map to have the most up to date walking package for Tenerife. Forget the coast, and the golf, and head for the mountains for a great time adventuring with confidence.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great walking in Tenerife
Los Organos, Arenas Negras, Adeje Skywalker, Conde, Saddle Up, there are just so many memorable walking routes in this book. Really detailed descriptions inspire confidence even for a first timer on Tenerife. I just wish I had more time to complete more of these beautiful routes.
