A most enjoyable read, extremely well written. An interesting insight not only into the famous John Scopes trial (the so-called "Monkey Trial") and about him teaching evolution in Tennessee, but also about the author himself, a descendent of Charles Darwin and his life as a screenwriter in Hollywood. Interesting how the present compares with 1925, amazing that so little has changed down there. A fascinating journey, not just down to the South, but also into the author's own interesting personal history. Absorbing, hilarious and fascinating, deserves the highest praise. Can be apreciated as the best kind of literature, but also just on the simple level of sheer amusement.
