I really like this guide - A good range of clearly graded walks. The directions for the walks I've completed so far are clear and backed up with the inclusion of sections from Ordnance Survey maps. It's very hard to go wrong.

I'm neither an expert walker/hiker nor particularly knowledgeable about the Lake District; so I find the guide great for giving me ideas for places to go and see. Have enjoyed every walk I've chosen. (Just got back from a trip where I did the Coniston Old Man/Water route. It was excellent; varied terrain and a good length to make sure I burnt off the calories from the pub meal of the previous night!!)

Have done over half of walks in book- all varied and got me around wonderful scenery.

Only shame is weather at times- but not book's fault.

OS maps easy to use- especially if you sometimes forget your own maps.

The pathfinder series of walking books I find are some of the best published. The maps in them are copies of ordnance survey maps and therefore easily to follow ( not like some walk books ). There is always a good variety of walks of varying length and ability. This book has the spectacular walk from Houseteads fort to Vindolanda along Hadrian's Wall... brilliant.

Much like the first book, there were some lovely walks described, but the description and instruction is not a patch on Wainwright. Be aware that although the book is entitled 'More Lakeland Walks', a lot of the walks are actually well outside the Lake District (one was almost in Scotland!) which was a bit disappointing and misleading.
If you try to follow the walks to the letter, be prepared to trek off the marked footpaths sometimes, and f you do that, make sure you take a map and compass as well!

I did the walk starting at Bethgellert and taking in Nanmor Valley and the Aberglaslyn Gorge. Long walk on a beautifully sunny day taking you off the main roads and into the heart of Snowdonia. Really special, really easy to follow, and a great adventure.

I like the Pathfinder books in general as they are easy to use and cater for all types of walks with varied environments even in one walk. The key maps are useful and the individual walk maps are acceptable. We recently used the pembrokeshire guide for a weeks holiday at Tenby. We completed two simple walks, two medium and one hard. All were different to each other and the highlighted features were good. The only slight negative i could find was the odd occasion when i wasnt sure if we were going the right way but common sense prevails. Never far off the right track.

What an excellent choice Christmas present. 28 walks situated from Llandovery in the west to Abergavenny in the east and stretching down to Cowbridge in the south. Each walk gives you information such as the distance to cover, the length of time its going to take and other information like where to find the nearest refreshments and car-parks. The walk is then comprehensively written up, and its accompanied with the OS 1:25,000 map on the page with the route highlighted. With the book printed in paperback, and about the same size as a folded OS map, its no problem to take along with you. If you have ever used the walks from 'Trail' magazine, this is written in a similar format. I've already done a couple of the walks, and ordered another two ... Read More:

Having recieved the book within the stated time, I spent a hour and a half reading through it and was impressed with the scope of walks it contains ( from very easy to strenuous ) and the amount of detail given on each of them. I look forward to enjoying this and the other book (Fort William and Glen Coe Walks) from the same series.
