. Trans-Siberian Handbook (Trailblazer)
by: Bryn Thomas
July 25, 2007
If you are planning to take a trip on the Trans-Siberian, Trans-Mongolian or Trans-Manchurian railway, I URGE you to purchase this book! I cannot express how invaluable this book was to me during my trip.
The book contains a wealth of important information. It helps you to book your trip with suggestions of companies to go through as well as informing you of any complications that may arise such as visas, vaccinations. It has a stop-by-stop guide of the entire length of the railway for all 3 journies as well as kilometre markings and places of interest along the route outside of stops, for photo opportunities and such.
Inside of stops, for the bigger towns along the way it contains a map (very valuable) marking out ... Read More:

. Trekking in the Annapurna Region (Trailblazer Guides)
by: Bryn Thomas
December 29, 2005
A few friends and myself did the Annapurna circuit this year, and can highly recommend trekking in this region.
Currently roads are being built to Manang and Muktinath. This road building has been going on for some time and is changing the path in many areas, however it is not mentioned in the guide book, it is difficult to see how a book updated in 2005 could have missed this. In some places the route changes on a yearly basis so I do not expect the guidebook to be completely up to date and in these cases the maps in the book are an excellent way of getting your bearings, but such a major development as a road, and the impacts of the road should not have been missed. The road development will change trekking in the region, when ... Read More:

. Goa (Lonely Planet Travel Guides)
by: Bryn Thomas, Douglas Streatfeild-James
September 01, 2003
We got this book before we went on a two week holiday to Goa and found the book to be excellent and extreemly helpful. As we had not been to Goa before, it gave us an idea of what to expect and which places to go to and what to see.
Because of this book we were able to plan what we wanted to see and managed to fit into our two week holiday a trip to Arambol staying in a coco hut on the beach, spice plantation @ Ponda, Fort Aguda, Dhudsagar Waterfalls, Old Goa, Anjuna market, Ingos Night Bazzar, Bondla Eco Tourism Park, boat trip to monkey beach - and we still had time to relax and soke up the sun!
Would definatley recommend this book to anyone who hasnt been to Goa and is thinking of going there - there is so much to do ... Read More:

. Britain (Lonely Planet Travel Survival Kit)
by: Tony Wheeler, Bryn Thomas, Pat Yale, Sean Sheehan, Richard Everist
April 30, 1997
This is a large book- over 1000 pages, and it aims to be a single, comprehensive guide to Britain. It begins with a section on travel advice such as tips about safety, information about currency and safety and information about travelling to Britain and within Britain. Basically, information for before you travel. But I would question the appeal of this kind of printed material. All this information can be found out quite easily online, and online sources are naturally much more up to date.
In the intro, and throughout the book, they make remarkable generalisations. "English pubs general..." " The British public usually..." I hope people don't take this too seriously!
Also this book is not re-written, it is simply updated. As ... Read More:

. India and Bangladesh: Travel Atlas (Lonely Planet Travel Atlas)
by: Bryn Thomas
1995-04
Finding a reliable map of india is not easy - anything with real detail in it seems to contravene indian state security - so the problems for anyone travelling in the subcontinent are multiplied. but the lonely planet atlas of india not only covers the entire country, but includes bits of pakistan and nepal for those who may need it (as well as all of bangladesh). i have used this book on two separate motorcycle trips to india and nepal and the atlas was my most useful companion. i found a few inaccuracies, but for a 1st edition, they are remarkably few. the user quickly gets used to the different types of road (ranging from pretty appalling to truly dreadful) and can work out which routes to take and roughly how long you can expect to be on the road. the distances ... . Goa (Lonely Planet Regional Guides)
by: Bryn Thomas, Douglas Streatfeild-James
October 31, 2000
I found this book extremely valuable before my first visit to Goa last year, and although some of the prices listed are now a little out-of-date, I have still found myself referring to this frequently in preparation for this year's trip. It is most valuable if you plan to book all your own accommodation and arrange the whole holiday for yourself, as it provides numerous useful contact numbers and accurate reviews. It is certainly the best book that I have seen published as a guide to Goa, and is second only to having someone on hand who has a comprehensive knowledge of the place!
