Extremely impressed with this book, really in-depth research, with lots of information. See 'culture shock' page 34 spot on observations about the Italian way of life. A really interesting chapter about ideas for new businesses in Italy page 300. Worth reading also is the case histories page 309. Maybe not enough website addresses and telephone numbers but the background research made up for it. I will be recommending it to visitors on my site www.italianproperties.org

If you only buy one book on the house-buying-in-Italy process, make sureit is this one. I bought this one and the one by the Sunday Times (Larner& Howell) and Mr Neale's is by far & away the superior. It has excellentsections on the various regions in Italy (to help you choose your house)plus info on Italian taxes, fees, contracts and conveyancing proceduresAND an extremely helpful English translation of the standard preliminarysale contract (compresso), plus detailed notations, so that you can makesure your compresso contains all the right clauses etc before you sign it. In my opinion, that is the best thing in the book. Very helpful sectionson DIY & building tools and methods too, including pictures of trowels etcwith the Italian ... Read More:
