. Driving Over Lemons: An Optimist in Andalucia
by: Chris Stewart
June 03, 1999
This book is so well written and witty, describing an idylic life in Spain that I am sure many will be tempted to follow in Chris's and my own footsteps. I have been through the same story as this family, having lived in Spain for the past sixteen years, longer than Chris. I speak fluent Castellano, the same as him. My warning about his book is unless you can speak Spanish perfectly, you will never enjoy half the experiences described. If you are willing to learn the language, then "Driving Over Lemmons" is so good and an inspiration. If you are inspired and are up for it then Spain is still a good choice. My advice is read the book, learn to speak Spanish, enjoy and do the same. Wonderful read and a wonderful country. I am writting this ... Read More:

The Rough Guides rarely disappoint. They are thorough and interesting. My only complaint is that Murcia, as usual in guidebooks like this, just doesn't get the treatment it deserves. I always buy the most recent edition, but suggest you can probably skip an edition now and then!

. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree: A Sort of Sequel to "Driving Over Lemons"
by: Chris Stewart
May 30, 2002
I picked this book up when I saw it lying on a friend's coffee table and became absorbed from the first chapter, so much so I was barely able to put it down until it was finished. It is written in a humorous, fluent and self-deprecating style that provides a fascinating insight into life as an ex-pat in a remote foreign farming community. The book's worth is increased for me by it coming across as a very honest account of events naturally brought to life by the characters and their situation. Each chapter is a self-contained episode which keeps the whole thing fresh. I certainly chuckled aloud at one or two sections; the improptu talk given to the Swedish on cattle rearing in England being particularly memorable. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

. Clash of the Sky Galleons (Edge Chronicles)
by: Chris Riddell, Paul Stewart
September 06, 2007
For those not familiar with the books in this fantastically imaginative series, I'd like to provide a list of the previous books before going into book nine. The series so far is divided into three trilogies, namely the Twig Saga, the Rook Saga and the Quint Saga. The series is sometimes confusing chronologically, as the events of the Quint Saga actually happen first, but the first book of this particular trilogy is actually book four in the series.
Without spoiling the series for newcomers, I'll just say that the character Twig is from the third generation, Rook is from the fifth, and Quint is from the second generation of the character chain.
Book 1: Beyond the Deepwoods- Twig
Book 2: Stormchaser - Twig
Book 3: ... Read More:

. Stormchaser (Edge Chronicles)
by: Chris Riddell, Paul Stewart
July 06, 2006
I have read Beyond the Deepwoods and I thought there would be no other book like it, but then I found the second book of the Twig Series and thought that it was even better. I can't wait until I buy the next book of the Twig Series, I am really looking forward to it. I recommend this to children aged 9 to 13. Any person aged 9 to 13 should go out to the shop and buy it. I myself am going to go out and buy the next Edge Chronicle book of the Twig Series which is called Midnight over Sanctaphrax as soon as I have saved enough pocket money.
