The book's OK and the walks good, but if you do buy this book you MUST take the relevant OS Map with you. The book does not contain maps and as a resident of an area near one of the walks I have lost count of the number of times I have found lost walkers in our local woods - all brandishing this book!

There are some excellent walks in this book, varying in length from 2 to 8 miles. It is unfortunately a very frustrating book to try to use. The descriptions of the routes to take are quite poor and unclear. I have met a couple of other walkers carrying this book looking as puzzled as I was. Each map is accompanied by a sketch map which are Ok for some walks but not for others. The indicated times for the walks are usually too short. You really do need to take an OS map with you but there a few cases in the book where the wrong OS map is cited so be careful.

A good guide for an exploration of the Wall country. Armed with this book, a good map and some local rumours you can find the site of Sewingshields Castle, said to be the home of King Arthur.
