I bought this book hoping to get a general guide to the different walking areas in Britain. The approach the book takes is to describe a small number of walks in each area as a sort of taster, with a couple of paragraphs of description of the area at the beginning. Details such as further reading (always useful), transport and accommodation are also included for each walk/area. While this serves the purpose reasonably well, I would have preferred a more detailed description of the area, and could easily have done without any route descriptions, of which there is no shortage at all in other books! It would also be useful to have included with the more detailed maps something showing where in Britain/the region it was referring to. This came ... Read More:

This book is of great interest to anyone wanting to know the history of St Ives in photographic format. There is not much explanitory text which is not necessary as there are other books that cover this well.

The photographs in this book are wonderfully rich in history and give an excellent view on how St Ives used to look.

I have given this book 3 stars because it was not what I was epecting, however there is lots here for someone interested in the subject.

Despite an unusually high number of flaws, this is nevertheless a book that will help you get the most out of your time in Andalucia.

Perhaps I just expect too much of Lonely Planet (LP), but it's their own fault. They've stood by me so many times in so many different places in the past that I was beginning to take everything they told me as The Only Advice In Town. So when I arrived in Seville I quickly got into the LP groove and hit La Bella Estrella, a "jazz bar".

Well, perhaps I'd arrived the day they buried the proprietor, but there was no jazz going on there, so off I went to Naima Café Jazz, happily only about five doors away down Calle Trajan. A bit better, but still not the place I expected based on LP's description. ... Read More:
