As long as you don't expect a storybook with a narrative you won't be disappointed. Each double page of this book is incredibly detailed with flora and insect life. Along the sides of the pictures are a selection of the insects singled out and named with a large, clear number by their side indicating how many of the little creatures you're looking for in the picture. The scenes are often from far-flung places such as deserts or jungles, with some more local forest and meadow scenes.

My three-and-a-half year-old son ADORES this book. Despite it not being a story he loves it at bedtime. He chooses which insect to search for and it really helps his visual scanning and concentration as he looks back and forth for each bug. Of course ... Read More:

Sir Hugh is back! What good news and he is back in a gripping mystery, another page turner of first order.

This is actaully No. 16 of the Sir Hugh Corbett series. Set at the time of King Edward I Sir Hugh is the King's trusted problem-solver. And again he is send on a royal mission. I have read them all and all are just fantastic read.But you do not have to read first all the previous story - even tough I can recommend this - to understand this mystery story.

Paul Doherty is a historian and that shows. For this very mystery he uses previous work (The Great Crown Jewels Robbery of 1303) or going works (The Templar (first part)). He has just a feeling to re-create the medieval times for the reader. It does not seem to be ... Read More:

We bought this book for our daughter who is nearly 4 and she loves it. We have to read it with her every night and it is really helping her to recognise numbers. I would recommend it for any little girl of the same age.

Paul Doherty has written several best selling mystery series including The Sorrowful Mysteries of Brother Athelstan, the Hugh Corbett medieval mysteries, and the Canterbury Tales of mystery and murder. As well as those he has also written several novels set in Ancient Egypt. In fact if there is a more prolific author than Mr. Doherty, I have yet to find them. Amazingly his books do not seem to suffer in the slightest from the speed in which he seems to write them. I cannot honestly say that there is one one I have not enjoyed and I think over the years I have read all of them at least once. He lives in England and was and may well still be the headmaster of a school in London. Though how he finds the time to do both is beyond me.

Parenting is a minefield with more manuals than the British Library so finding a book that offers support without being patronising, talks about real problems and suggests strategies that don't involve disrupting your life and is charming, funny, well written and very well edited is a real bonus.
Highly recommended.
