.Greenland and the Arctic (Lonely Planet Country Guide) by: Etain O'Carroll, Mark Elliott June 01, 2005 Just come back from East Greenland (Kulusuk and Tasiilaq), and considering that this is an area that is not really set up for massive amounts of tourism, the book gave a good idea of what to expect. The recommendations for accommodation were excellent, and you could tell that the author knew and loved Greenland and the Arctic. Possibly could have done with a bit more warning on Greenland time, which is basically the theory that you should just ignore the specific times that you are given, and expect everything to happen up to 4 hours after you were told it would! .Great Britain (Lonely Planet Country Guide) by: David Else, Oliver Berry, Nicky Crowther, Fionn Davenport, Martin Hughes, Sam Martin, Etain O'Carroll, Becky Ohlsen, Andy Symington May 01, 2005 This is a large book- over 1000 pages, and it aims to be a single, comprehensive guide to Britain. It begins with a section on travel advice such as tips about safety, information about currency and safety and information about travelling to Britain and within Britain. Basically, information for before you travel. But I would question the appeal of this kind of printed material. All this information can be found out quite easily online, and online sources are naturally much more up to date. In the intro, and throughout the book, they make remarkable generalisations. "English pubs general..." " The British public usually..." I hope people don't take this too seriously! Also this book is not re-written, it is simply updated. ... You've got travel information (and do get yourself an ISIC card, if you meet the requirements), you've got places to stay, and of course a description of the main features in Wales, starting obviously from Cardiff, Europe's youngest capital. This guide is especially useful if you have a rather low budget, since many of the hotels, B&Bs, bars and restaurants listed a rather cheap (but not reall low quality, mind you).
