. Bermuda (Lonely Planet Country Guide)
by: Glenda Bendure, Ned Friary
June 01, 2005
Armed only with the old edition of this guide, and mounted on my trusty scooter, I managed to see more or less everything that there is to see in Bermuda over the space of ten days. The detailed maps were particularly helpful - despite its size (tiny!), Bermuda is criss-crossed by miles and miles of roads ranging from dual carriageway to jungly lane. With the Lonely Planet guide in your hand, you can explore the island without the fear of getting helplessly lost...providing you can map-read, of course. In terms of listing and rating the sights, the beaches, and places to eat and drink, the guide was often invaluable and never less than helpful. Obviously Bermuda is a very compact place, so the detail in the ... Read More:

. Oahu (Lonely Planet Regional Guides)
from: Lonely Planet Publications
May 01, 2003
I have this book, and think it is the best of the travel books available on Denmark. However, the coverage of the country is not particularly consistent. I definately would not use this book to help me decide on a region to visit. The region I visited on my last holiday to Denmark does not get a mention in this book, except for the largest town there. You would be much better off visiting the Danish tourist info site. If you are going to Copenhagen, this book would be good, as there is very comprehensive coverage of the capital.

. Scandinavian Europe (Lonely Planet Travel Guides)
by: Glenda Bendure
February 28, 2003
First of all this book is a bit US-centric. It keeps mentioning things that us Europeans will not be surprised by, such as LHR being the gateway to Europe. Stansted? Or the fact that we don't fly much domestically. The high prices and short distances involved mean that backpackers planning an itinerary would figure it out for themselves pretty quickly. This guide covers a huge geographical area and seems to be aimed at people "doing" Scandinavia by jetting or bussing from one city to the next. Once you get to many of the places mentioned, the guide is of little use, for example maps are few and far between. Then again, Scandinavia counts as part of the developed world, so you don't need Lonely Planet to tell you which dodgy ... Read More:
