. Fateful Choices: Ten Decisions That Changed the World, 1940-1941
by: Ian Kershaw

EVENTS, DEAR BOY, EVENTS
By IAIN FRASER GRIGOR
THE PRINCIPLES of warfare are really very simple. As codified by the military sages of antiquity and modernity, they can be reduced to two simple rules. The first is to win without having to fight at all. And the second is: if you have to fight, attack a small, defenceless and entirely unconscious enemy with devastating superiority of force and absolute surprise.
The great Prussian von Moltke knew this. But he was to add one great aphorism to the principles of war, to the effect that no plan survives contact with the enemy. So it was in the wars of his nineteenth century, after all, and so it would prove to be in the first Great War of Europe's bloody ... Read More:

. Hitler
by: Ian Kershaw
August 07, 2008
The best yet biography of Hitler, discussing in extent the first years of his life. Presents theories of how his ideas were formed backing them or dismissing them with extensive bibliography research. Even though the crucial matter on how and when his ideas were formulated is not definitely answered it is the best effort on summarising the available data up to date. Reccomended to the serious in depth researcher, with excellent notes for further reading. V.A.Kouts

. Hitler, 1889-1936: Hubris
by: Ian Kershaw
October 25, 2001
The first book in Ian Kershaw's autobiography of Adolf Hitler is a fascinating read, it is extremely detailed in content.
The book starts with Hitler's parentage and then tells of his childhood, his activities before the first world war are described. There is a brief description of the years of the first world war and how Hitler was wounded in a gas attack and stayed in a military hospital in Pasewalk.
The formulation of Hitler's antisemite views are discussed in detail.
How Hitler became involved in politics after the first world war, is described in detail, and also the story of how the NSDAP was founded by Anton Drexler. The Munich Putsch is detailed and the imprisonment of Hitler afterwards. All along, the author tells the reader of the other characters ... Read More:

. Hitler, 1936-1945: Nemesis (Allen Lane History)
by: Ian Kershaw
October 25, 2001
What can be said about this book that hasn't already been said? When partnered with it's counterpart, 1889-1936: Hubris, this represents the best, most definitive account of Hitler. The scale and scope of both of these books is tremendous, and covers every detail about his life in an exhaustively researched & accurate way.
Some reviewers have given negative reviews on this book, but these are mainly in relation to the military and events of the second world war. As Kershaw states in the introduction to these books, they are not an account of the second world war and how certain battles faired. As he states, there is already an exhaustive amount of work in relation to these out there, and besides, this is a book about Hitler, not what divisions the Waffen-SS was fielding ... Read More:
