Good in terms of coverage, but not so hot for beginners. Quite old-fashioned in design, the lack of imitated pronunctiation is a real drawback, and for serious learners there are far too few snippets of language to see the terms in context. Gaelic aso has lots of important wee phrases which admittedly don't fit well in a dictionary format, but more effort could have been made to display them properly. Still waiting for a really good modern Gaelic dictionary...

This is the easiest and most educational work ive had the pleasure to read in the line of my work in addiction.Its clear procise and to the point in explaining of the myths around treatment.Its academic without taking its self too seriously which i think a lot of authors loose touch with.It is academic but its got to be readable which this certainly is.I cant wait to read of more of the same.

If you are interested in how the brain works in terms of output rather than sheer
mechanics then this book is a very good canter around the course.
At times it can be a little academic but it contains interesting insights not only into the
way the mind functions but how we can actually alter our mind state. This might be of
particular interest to those keen to improve their mental faculties and general well-being
in order to achieve more. Certainly the final few chapters throw into sharp perspective
the way in which the brain and mind can serve us better if we only take the right
decisions.

There is no doubt whatsoever that this man knows what he is talking about. He can also communicate what he knows very clearly and entertainingly. The only thing that stops me giving it 5 stars is the fact that there aren't enough maps and two of the few that there are cover Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift; both well documented battles whose layout is widely available elsewhere.

The author was first taken on as security for the band and then as their tour manager. The book tells of his hiring, his travels with the band and his eventual firing - I think it is fair to say that the author had a somewhat troubled relationship with Liam (who got him sacked) and a much more harmonious one with Noel and this is reflected in the bias of the book; there is a lot of 'Liam doing bad things under the influence...' stories (which I'm sure are true) whilst Noel appears to have been really rather well behaved for the most part (which I find difficult to believe even though I am a massive NG fan!). I was hoping this book would be full of puzzles and games to improve memory and concentration. It is nothing of the sort. Rather it is a self-help book for the over-50s, very wordy, all about how you can help yourself to stay young by keeping fit, eating healthily, reducing stress, trying new things etc. I can't imagine who would find this useful - if you're the sort of person who would pick this up, you probably already know the stuff that's in it!

This is a nice trip down a rather smoky and rainy memory lane - although plenty of the photos are taken in some decent weather! It should be noted that much of the book is devoted to trains and buses, so it's perhaps not as broad in subject matter as one might expect. It is all nicely put together and very well narrated - short, sensible captions - ideal for enjoying over a coffee or something. An enjoyable snapshot of London memories which took me right back to tube journeys of the 70's (or even last year if we're talking District Line!)
