The Rough Guides rarely disappoint. They are thorough and interesting. My only complaint is that Murcia, as usual in guidebooks like this, just doesn't get the treatment it deserves. I always buy the most recent edition, but suggest you can probably skip an edition now and then!

I foind this Rough Guide and very informative just like the previous guide books I have used in the past. It has the top 20 places to visit and it is clearly laid out.
The information about the places I visited was very informative
and helpful. I attempted to speak in Spanish and I found the phrases and words useful when trying to order food or ask directions.
I enjoyed reading the history of the area, Catalan and I would recommend the book to friends.
Although the book was published 2 years ago some of the information was not correct but that should not be a problem.

Having used this book in practice, I've always found its comments on the locations it covers quite fair and its facts reasonably accurate. Obviously, a book like this can never be as current as the Net, so when looking for somewhere to eat you're best bet is to use your own initiative when you get there rather than sticking slavishly to every word of the text. Even so, I've always found it very useful. My only criticism is that there aren't enough street names on the maps it provides, and that can cause problems.

Directions guides are slim and pocketable (literally - I kept mine in the back pocket of my jeans as I was walking around - they are that small), and therefore ideal for browsing on the move.

The information is basic and to the point. The book spends as much time on cafes, restaurants and bars as it does on the sights. If you are spending more than a long weekend in Barcelona it is a good idea to combine this with another guide, such as the more detailed and pictorial DK guide. The Directions guide is short on pictures and doesn't cover all of the minor sites.
