Not having any experience of hill walking or map reading it's always difficult to really know if the book you have just ordered on Amazon is going to suffice. Will it be clear, easy to read for a beginner and will it keep my interest.

Well this book is a gem, extremely clear and easy to read and with the full colour photographs my interest is still with the book even though I am now at work waiting to go home so I can read some more.

Can't wait to try out my new found knowledge in the 'wild'.

Alas that we found this book too late! It is a very well written, very detailed guide to walking over the hills of the Costiera Amalfitana. It contains maps and is all around useful. Useful tips on buses and how to get around. If you are going to the region, I very much recommend getting this book. It opens up parts of the region that most tourists do not see.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a holiday in Italy during which we spent time in Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri. We always intended to do a bit of walking and, having been recommended this book through a guide book, we bought it through Amazon.
We found it indispensable for exploring these beautiful areas of Italy. In particular, we were impressed by the way that the book described "segments" of walks so that you are able to devise a walk yourself by joining up adjacent segments. I have never come across a walking guide book laid out in this fashion before. In addition the segments are described both in terms of walking from A to B and also from B to A, further increasing the flexibility for the walker.
