From the opening chapters you realise that there is a lot of unneccessary filling (or padding) in this novel and as the book progresses, the plot development and ending becomes predictable and obvious. I'd lost interest about two-thirds of the way through and was very tempted to stop reading. But I had to keep reading simply to prove to myself that I was right about the plot and the ending - and I was. Certain strands of the storyline are totally superfluous and had they not been included, would not have been missed. And, if I'm being honest the standard of writing is poor.

. Labyrinth

I received Labyrinth as a birthday present from a friend whose opinions on books, movies etc. are mostly the same as mine. She read this on holiday and enjoyed it, thinking I would probably appreciate it too. So when she bought me a copy I was excited to read it, expecting a story I would be raving about for weeks.
Unfortunately, I was bitterly disapointed. On my first attempt I barely made it past the prologue, highly unusual for me. The starting scenario could have been dramatic, instead I found the first 23 pages to be a large cliché, with many elements taken straight from The Da Vinci Code, which I found to be a fast-paced thriller that kept my attention the whole way through - Labyrinth did not.
And so I gave up ... Read More:

I bought this for my mum when she was going on holiday and she loved it so much that I had a read as well. There is a good mix of stories - some make you laugh and other's tug on the heartstrings. I loved the retro feel to the jacket and have it facing out on my book shelf!
