The only think I didn't like about this book was the art work for I think Factor X. I didn't know any of the characters from anything else I'd read and the art just isn't my cup of tea. It doesn't fit this series in my opinon.
However, the rest of the art work is AMAZING! Several really great moments. Steve Skroce's work on whatever book he's drawing and Jeph Loeb writes that one two (though I feel the writers here are working to adhere to a unified representation of the project rather than trying out new things or writing in their own styles).
Other amazing art is the work on The Astonishing X-Men run. There are two of the books sandwhiched into the third part of the AoA and it's fantastic. I like this part ... Read More:

Cut out the gum-ball superheroes and enter a world where a hero will kill you as quickly as a villain. This imagining of a world where Xavier died is one of the most powerful visions of the X-Universe out there. The grit and doomed nature of the Age of Apocalypse comes through in every story, but you also have characters you care about and want to see escape what you know will happen eventually.
Only four out of five stars because some of the art isn't amazing. Dont let that disuade you from an excellent story that showcases characters regular X-book readers will know and not know all at once.

Any X-men fan should read their biggest ever storyline - and its finally possible to do that in chronological order thanks to these epic volumes! If you're a new fan, or missed the initial print some 10yrs ago now (like I did), then this is a must.
The first book was a little disappointing as stories were all over the place and you really didnt know what was happening, with characters and teams changing from each segment. Its understandable as I discovered that most of them were back stories written after the main event. Hence why anyone starting should read this first and the epic book 1 last.
Seeing the characters we all know and love as different incarnations is fascinating. Good guys now bad guys and vice versa, ... Read More:

. Dislocations: Nine Stories of Speculation and Imagination
by: Chaz Brenchley, Pat Cadigan, Hal Duncan, Amanda Hemingway, Andrew Hook, Ken Macleod, Adam Roberts, Brian Stableford, Andy West
July 30, 2007
It gets bigger and better from NewCon Press with this second anthology. Now there are nine stories instead of eight: spanning a total of 136 pages as opposed to the 102 pages in Time Pieces. Value for money or what?
There are a few other changes: ISBN; printer; book layout - all are different, not better, not worse just different. This time around only the inimitable Ian Watson provides Ian Whates with invaluable editorial advice. The cover artist has also changed; Andy Bigwood's electrified planet amidst blackness heralds a shift of theme for this anthology: it is still predominately a haven for science fiction advocates but with the stories following fresh and inventive angles on the theme of displacement.
