My 9 year old daughter was very excited about this book series, but as a parent, I have been disappointed in the four books that I have read. Eleanor is no exception. This book contains several scenes which are disgusting -- a child who vomits up a ball of writhing worms, another child who has a worm come out of its eye (Eleanor calls for the doctor then watches as this worm fully emerges, as long as Eleanor's arm), a kitten falls down a privy chute and drowns, and Eleanor's sister writes a poem about this kitten's experience in her diary (mercifuly, the poem is not included in this book).
