. The Rough Guide to New Zealand (Rough Guide Travel Guides)
by: Tony Mudd, Paul Whitfield, Laura Harper
September 01, 2008
I recently spent some time touring around New Zealand and this guide was my constant companion(as well as my wife). For your money you get an extemely comprehensive guide to one of the most beautiful countries in the world. From the lush green farmland of the north island to the barren desolate stretches of the south island "Gods own country" has it all.
Each area is dealt with in separate chapters and each chapter begins with the "highlights" of the area,so if the highlights dont appeal keep driving! You will find the history of the more interesting places contained in this guide ,not a full on history lesson mind you but just enough to impress the wife with until she picks up the guide for herself ,then the game is well and truly ... . The Rough Guide to New Zealand

This book is fantastic. I have just come back from travelling for a year which 3 months of it i spent in New Zealand. It has been the most wonderful experience but New Zealand is by far the best place on earth. The book was consistantly accurate and never let me down once. The recommendations for restaraunts, bar's, clubs, shops, public transport etc etc are fantastic. Not once did we find a bar that had been closed for years or a shop that was selling something completley different to what it said in the book. By using the book alone, we managed to travel our way from the very top of the north island to the bottom of the south island. We also managed to get some discounts in some hotels because they had been recommeneded in the Rough Guide. Read More:

. The Rough Guide to New Zealand - 4th Edition
by: Laura Harper, Anthony Stephen Mudd, Paul Whitfield

This is an invaluable and most importantly accurate resource when visiting NZ. I agonised over which "Guide" to take as there are so many good ones out there. My choice was vindicated. The descriptions of the places to visit are uncomplicated and human, avoiding jargon and lazy cliches. The list of eateries and pubs was particularly good and almost without exception never failed to please. I take on board what the other reviewer said about the size of the manual but the author is put in an extremely diffkcult position when balancing a full authorititative guide against space and portability. I think they have got it about right as it is packed full of all the essential including lots of maps as well as a good background info on everywhere ... Read More:

. Florida: The Rough Guide, Third Edition (Rough Guides)
by: Mick Sinclair, Laura Harper, Oliver Marshall, Tony Mudd

Unusually for a travel-guide, I managed to read the 'Rough Guide to Florida' from beginning to end. For this fact alone, I must applaud the author for keeping me entertained with informative and interesting snippets of information. The communication style of the book is in-keeping with the, now well-established, format of the 'Rough Guide' series, being concise and honest in it's appraisal of the area(s) reviewed. If I have to make a critical comment, it would be that it appears that the author is rather biased towards Miami, with the detail being more exhaustive for this area than any other part of Florida. This seems rather strange seeing that there is a 'Mini Rough Guide to Miami and The Florida Keys' as part of the same ... Read More:
