The strength of this beginning Greek course is in the four audio CDs which can almost be used as a stand alone course for learning while driving the car. They are clearly spoken, interesting, and move the course along at a good pace. Key points are repeated to assist learning, and there are a variety of spoken exercises to assist memorising the vocabulary. The 64 page book which comes with the CDs is colourful with many photographs and breakout sections, but it is not well organised for language learning and can be difficult to follow. It has the text of the main dialogues and vocabulary in Greek and English and some token exercises.

I have experience of both the French and German courses and highly recommend them for anyone who is serious about learning a language and wants to learn quickly. The cds are clear and follow a pleasant pace - pop it on when your in the car and you'll surprise yourself with how much you will remember. The books are fantastic quality too with great pictures.

The course is mainly based around the CDs, with the book supporting them, which is great for use whilst driving. It is fairly basic, having a limited vocabulary with a lot of repetition to fill up the four CDs - almost as if it was intended for broadcast, where you can't rewind. The scope of situations covered is not well targetted to be useful to a prospective visitor to Portugal. Too much on social chit-chat and not enough on practicalities like where the nearest campsite is or whether the hotel has vacancies. That said, it is well presented and makes learning easy, so it is probably quite good as a primer for further study.
