. Through The Storm
by: Maureen Lee
August 17, 1998
This book and the prevoius two in the trilogy gives you an insight into the plight of ordinary working class families caught up in the terrible times of WW2. It keeps you wanting to know more and more about the Pearl Street families and how they coped and survived. A fab book that I would recommend to anyone.

. Put Out the Fires
by: Maureen Lee
July 01, 1999
After reading Lights Out Liverpool, I just had to read the follw on book. Maureen Lee captures the same gripping storylines plus brings in a whole load of new characters that will make it impossible for you to put the book down. From the heartache of seeing your favourite characters die to the sorrow of watching others who let grief consume them, to the welcoming joys of new life and how life goes on. This book is not to be missed.

. The House By Princes Park
by: Maureen Lee
December 05, 2002
I loved this book, the general jist is that you follow the life of a lady called Ruby, you almost become a part of her family as you watch it grow and experience the happiness and heartache that they all face throughout the war and right up to the Millenium. By the end of the book you'll feel the family really exists and you'll be sorry to see the back of them. I have also read and enjoyed "Lights out Liverpool" by Maureen Lee and will certainly be reading other books by this author in future.

. The Girl From Barefoot House
by: Maureen Lee
March 01, 2001
If you enjoy war time stories then this is one for you because not only is it fasinating but also incredably moving. As you read it you become extreamly attached to the characters, you almost adopt a maternal or paternal role over them. I found it hard to let go of them at the end. Josie is trully an amazing woman she deals with loss of life, confusion in the way her life leads and also making a life that she can cope with. Your bond with Josie is very much real and you feel the need sometimes to reach out and support her. Maureen Lee's sensitive approach to the chacaters is it itself most of the masterpiece. Her ability to create such realistic situations and emotions between characters is amazing. The life story of Josie is so realistic it ... Read More:

. Stepping Stones
by: Maureen Lee
August 17, 1998
I have read many of Maureen Lee's books and found them extremely gripping and enjoyable. I was a little bit disappointed with 'Stepping Stones'. Although the story was well written I found two of the 'twists' to be completely unbelievable and totally far fetched. This kind of put me off reading to the end. It was still well written but I found myself shouting 'as if that would happen!'

. The Old House on the Corner
by: Maureen Lee
July 27, 2005
What a great book. I saw the cover and it looked like a Mills & Boon romance - how wrong can someone be?
The story tells of the new residents to a new street of houses in the Smithdown Road area of Liverpool. As someone who lived off Penny Lane and Smithdown it engaged me straightaway. From there I fell in love with this book staying up until 4am to finish it.
It is poignant, amusing and romantic. The characteurs are real and three dimensional. I know I've met some of them, somewhere in my travels. In the end I cried - which is rare if not unique. Read it - it's worth the trip!
