. What I Was
by: Meg Rosoff
May 14, 2008
This novel is a masterpiece, by far Rosoff's best. A quiet, subtle exploration of boarding school in the 1960s and what it means to fall in love for the first time. The writing is beautiful and the characters have haunted me for days. Highly recommended for anyone thirteen and up.

. How I Live Now

I am 17 but i was 15 when i read this and it still firmly remains one of my all time favourite books. I imagined myself being daisy (i always like imagining myself as the heroin of a story) daisy is so tough and easily idolisable that you really get to learn why she is the way she is, this book is a real journey and is one of very few books that has ever made me cry i didn't buy it because of the awards i just read the blurb and thought that it would appeal to me and it did. I was surprised it was a debut novel because it was so well written, if you have a daughter with a good imagination and is quite clever please buy her this book i'm so glad i read it :)
This book sais take my hand and run with me i did and it's a journey i'll never ... Read More:

. Just In Case
by: Meg Rosoff
June 07, 2007
This book is about a boy named Justin Case, and his fight against fate and avoiding risk which leads him to a life of despair on the brink of insanity.
i personally prefered this to How I Live Now and What I Was, as i like the modern day feel to Justin Case.
despite being a girl, and a year younger than Justin, i felt i could relate extremely well to him and also Agnes.
they were such strong characters, whereas i found Daisy in How I Live Now a bit annoying, there's an innocence about Justin which makes you love him from the very first page.
overall, a fantastic book :)

. What I Was
by: Meg Rosoff
August 07, 2008
This is a luminous, lucid, brilliant book - which is ironic, as in some ways it's a book about what isn't said or seen. Told in a subtle, witty, intelligent voice, this is funny, thoughtful and ultimately very moving - so complex and skilful that the "love story" or "coming-of-age story" labels simply don't do justice to it.
In the mundane, bleak world of a sixties boarding school next to the sinking East Anglian coastline, the narrator stumbles on the hut where a boy, Finn, lives alone, fending for himself. Entranced by Finn's beauty, strength, and freedom, he observes and then shares the idyll, escaping from a background of mediocrity and duplicity before inadvertently acting as the catalyst for the destruction of Finn's life. The relationship is perfectly judged - subtle, ... Read More:
