Unfortunately I have to agree with all the other reviewers comments on this book being so out of date. Walkers on Mallorca owe June parker a huge debt for her pioneering work, but since her death in 1998 Walking in Mallorca does not seem to have been updated at all; despite a flashy new cover.
Buy it as a collectors item but not as a guide book.

I've walked the Penzance-Plymouth section using this book. It's really useful with maps of the entire path, we had maps for some of the section but I don't think they're neccessary if you've got this book. Would be useful if it had lists of accomodation (rather than vague comments like 'a range of accomodation') although that would make it much heavier, so maybe its a bonus!
Really handy. Quite glad to be honest that it didn't have estimated walking times as that just depresses those slow walkers among us!
Will definitely continue to use it when I do the rest of the path.

This is a really useful guide with detailed descriptions and maps for 41 walks covering the whole island. This means that there are walks for everyone in here, from strolls along the coast to serious routes which require a rope and a head for heights. The routes are presented in a way that allow the walker to combine two routes for a big challenge, or include short cuts and amendments according to interest. Highly recommended.

As a guide to walking the Great Glen Way, this does what it says on the tin, giving perfectly adequate directions for walking the route both North to South and South to North.

It is not a difficult job, as it is almost impossible to get lost on this path, but the book does what it sets out to do.

It does need a little updating, the path has been re-routed for part of the section between Drumnadrochit and Inverness. Also, many of the tea rooms identified have closed down, which can be disappointing.

In terms of the path itself, if you are trying to decide whether to do it, I would summarise it as being not the most interesting walking in the world, there is too much on roads and forest tracks for that, but worth ... Read More:

This guidebook is useful, but has its limitations. It needs reading with a map open beside you. The sketch maps aren't great. As it is covering a large area there are inevitable selection biases.

The routes are accurately described. What I don't get from this book is the feel of the place, or the flavour of the walks.

There is a load of good walking on the Canary Islands, and with the heat you'll find the walks as much of a challenge as any English or Scottish peak. There's a different set of problems walking in hot dry territories and it's fun to be more worried about sun and water rather than wind and rain.

There are a great variety of walks in this book, and excellent detailed directions, so that those unfamiliar with the area, couldn't get lost. Included in each walk is interesting history and facts about the area. A great book
