and the best guide I've come across for India. Packed with detail and a reasonable cultural/ historical introduction. Maps are great, the timetables are pretty accurate, the opening times and prices are correct...
There are some very bad LP guides out there. Vietnam springs to mind. But LP India has been consistently good throughout the years. I think I've used 4 versions of the guidebook and have been pleased with the improvements everytime.
Obviously the negativities are that it is pretty big but how else are you supposed to cram in all that information.

. South India (Lonely Planet Country Guide)

I'd bought my flight tickets, travel insurance and the all important Visa for entering India. Next on the list was the guide book. It was a choice of this one or the Rough Guide. Both were published around the same time, and I've used both before for different countries, so I'm happy with their layout and content. However, choosing the right guide this time seemed far more difficult. Both contained detailed information about the places I plan to visit. However, I found some bits were present in one book, but not the other, and vice-versa. In the end I decided to go for both books. I'm travelling in South India for 3 months, so I thought it would be worth the luxury of having two guides. Having ... Read More:

. Eastern Europe (Lonely Planet Regional Guides)
by: Lisa Dunford, Mark Elliott, Patrick Horton

Having just spent 3 weeks in Romania, Macedonia & Albania - this guide was a true travel companion.
Having used the 2005 version of this guide to travel around Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Croatia in March 2006 - this one was much more useful and the writers had gone to great pains to make everything accurate (unlike their Western Balkans guide which was awash with misinformation and inaccuracies, normally regarding telephone numbers etc)
Having also brought the Bradt Albania guide with us (thank god we never relied on this as their pricing information for accommodation was grossly out of date & there was a real laziness in updating vital information) the Lonely Planet was the one that got grubbiest from continual ... Read More:

. A Short History and Guide to Alderney
by: Patrick William Joseph Horton
1951
One of the most thorough books on Web design. Written in a clear manner and illustrated with examples. Solid, timeless principles that underpin best practice web design. Ideal for beginners and intermediate level. Much more solid information than some of the other highly rated authors in the field. In fact, without actually mentioning any names,I found some of them were rather disappointing - either too simplistic or too obtuse and lacking in examples. And much less value for money! The Web Style Guide could do with a 3rd edition, but this does not detract from its inherent value.
