My husband and I now have a collection of AA sprial guide books (Boston & New England, New York, Washington, California, Florida). All of them are extremely well written. They are easy to read with great pictures and itineraries to fit in all the "must see" attractions to your holiday. It is portable enough to go everywhere with you, and is crammed with useful information, where to eat, shop, stay, how to get around, cost of attractions - the list is endless! The map included is extremely useful too!

In short I would recommend this and the other AA spiral guide books to EVERYONE. We would not go on a holiday without one now, as without them, we would have missed many brilliant bits of our holiday!

The title of any book is an indication of it's content and "Top Dive Sites of the World" is a very big claim. Of course, any personal selection claiming to be "the best of" will always be subjective. My list will be different from yours and neither of us is either right or wrong - it is simply a matter of personal choice coupled with our own diving experiences.

This book is laid out in 7 general areas of the World; The Caribbean, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Indo Pacific and Pacific. Straight away, as we enter the Caribbean, we find two of the world's most outstanding dive destinations are not even mentioned in passing. This is a very good book except the section on stretching which does not seem to reflect current theory and practice. There is for instance no mention of dynamic stretching. Don't let this minor fault put you off. Buy a good book on stretching to go with it.

This book really helped. After injuring myself went to the doctor who suggested lot's of medications, etc. Skeptical, I went to bookstore and came across this book. Found other treatment ideas in it and took it back to the doctor with me. He was shocked at my audacity, but agreed with the recommendation in the book. Saved me thousands of bucks and lots of grief. Doc said he was going to buy a copy. WOW!

I can only remember reading one other book that was as riveting as this one. That book is Richard Walkers 'No Need To Lie' and was read 40 years ago when I was 14 !!
Crazy River is split into two tales covering a search for Goliath Tiger Fish and Mahseer respectively. The descriptions are graphic and gripping.
Adventure and fishing are blended together and perfectly captured by the authors.

Having bought a selection of guides to small/independent hotels in Spain, this one was certainly a let down.

I found a number of substantial inaccuracies in the information (such as mention of swimming pools which didn't exist) and many of the hotels mentioned were not what I would consider charming or out of the ordinary.

If you are looking for a guide to hotels in Spain then I cannot recommend Alistair Sawday's Special Places to Stay Spain enough.
