.The Ruin (Forgotten Realms: The Year of Rogue Dragons) by: Richard Lee Byers July 07, 2006 The third and final book in the Year of Rogue Dragons Trilogy is easily the best in the series and does a great job of rounding off the story. Searching for an ancient elven outpost in the north, Dorn and his friends run afoul of treachery, tyrannical ice queens and hell-spawned dragons before finally confronting the architect of the rage himself, the dread lich Sammaster. The Ruin does suffer from some of the problems that beset the previous two books in the series such as bad editing in places and a tendency for attempting to shoehorn in as many different types of dragons as possible before the end of the series. .The Rage (Forgotten Realms: The Year of the Rogue Dragons, Book 1) (Forgotten Realms) (Forgotten Realms) by: Richard Lee Byers April 30, 2004 This is one great book, I got into the Realms from Salvatores Dark Elf Trilogy, but I think this book is even better! It has a definate storyline, not too much pointless sidetracking which always helps, also there arent that many scene jumps or too many different things happening at the same time, this makes it a very easy book to understand whats going on, without making it any less exciting or enjoyable! All of the characters in this book have a deffinate personality, I personally love the way Pavel is portrayed and like the situation Byers puts him in, with his god and all that is going on around him. .Dissolution (War of Spider Queen) by: Richard Lee Byers August 01, 2003 This is a good book so i'll start by getting the negative point over first. While I am interested in the forgotten realms novels, i found it so hard to keep up with the story initially. I'm sure people who don't really know much about the dark elves will have the same problem. while I know they often write the story in scenes. I felt bowled over by the numerous characters before they were properly established. A character summary might have been a good idea to start with. E.g . in the first few chapters we are introduced to so many characters, some of whom are not important at all ( well they are just side characters) and while the realism helps, its just confusing. .The Rite (Year of the Rogue Dragons) by: Richard Lee Byers November 30, 2004 The second book in the Year of Rogue Dragons Trilogy sees the half-golem Dorn and his dragon hunters searching for a way to quell the Rage. The group has split into three, each searching ancient sights across Faerûn for the secrets of the Rage. Pavel and Will hunt for ruins in Thar; Dorn, Kara, Raryn and Chatulio travel to the Monastery of the Yellow Rose to hunt through its libraries while Taegan and Jivex help the mages of Thentia decipher Sammasters notes. The Rite is a good middle trilogy book but it does suffer from a rather mediocre middle section and is in desperate need of proof reading in places. Despite this the book is generally quite exciting with some good battles, treachery and massive dragons tearing each other apart. Overall Rite ... Richard Lee Byres is a good author, and I have enjoyed all the books of his that I have read.
