.An Introduction to Chaotic Dynamical Systems (Studiea in Nonlinearity) by: Robert L. Devaney March 18, 2003 This book is a mathematical introduction to the theory of discrete time dynamical systems also known as Map. These systems are based on the successive iteration of the same non-linear function on some values. The book is divided into three parts. In the first part the one-dimensional maps are considered, giving an overall description of the different behavior of this kind of system, the logistic or quadratic map is the leading example. The theorem of Sarkovskii is explained and general information on bifurcation theory is given. In this part the important connection with symbolic dynamics is also addressed.
