Dubin, Phil Lee, John Fisher, Chris Lloyd, Iain Stewart February 01, 2007 The Rough Guides rarely disappoint. They are thorough and interesting. My only complaint is that Murcia, as usual in guidebooks like this, just doesn't get the treatment it deserves. .The Mini Rough Guide to Madrid by: Simon Baskett May 25, 2000 The version I bought was published in 2002 and the times (and prices) have certainly moved on. I liked the book's general information overall but the taxi to/from the airport was 35euros (not 17), Santa Ana wasn't as lively or pretty as described, La Solea was at a different address and the Mandrilenos (locals) weren't as willing to help my attempts at Spanish as I was led to believe. The maps are good and the size very handy - some of the historical references and information is interesting and readable. Were to find the right hotel, the best typical restaurant, the finest views, the best places to discover. Where and why, first. And after we decide where we want to go, then we just need to know how to get there. For all these reasons, this is the guide you need. .Spain: the Rough Guide by: Mark Ellingham, John Fisher, Simon Baskett, Guy Barefoot 1999 I found this easily the best Guide book to Spain out of the three I've used (Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, Eye Witness). While short on photos, it was the best for providing information about what their was to actually see in each region and city in a digestible form and proved the most useful in planning my trip to Spain.
