If you have a small talent for drawing and you are pulled towards illustrating your own comics or characters, then this is the best book you can buy as a platform to build on. If you are wondering as to why your superheroes look out of proportion or you want to capture them in an amazing dramatic pose, then take a look in the book. It shows you every aspect of creating characters and storybooks, with a word on inking thrown in too. I also own the DC Comics Guide to Pencilling, and that really is a poor cousin in comparison to this book. Yes, the characters may look a bit dated as this came out a million years ago, however study this book, refer back to it, and take your drawings to the next level.

The latest offering from panini is a collection of Iron Man tales spanning 40+ years. Reprinted (on very good quality paper) are Tales of Suspense 39, (Iron Man's first appearance) Iron Man issues 99-100, 128, 131-133, 149-150, 200, 256 and vol.3 issue 30. The issues by David Michelinie Bob Layton and John Romita Jr. are outstanding and the others range from readable to quite enjoyable. The package as a whole is exellent value.

There are only a few of these 'Definitive' collections from marvel and personally they are brilliant, giving the reader the orgins and some of the best stories from a character.

Firstly i love silver surfer and soo much about him the fact that his power is practically limitless and that he doesn't even want it is what is soo gd about silverado himself.

This collection was put together by Stan the man Lee and even has a forward written from him which i very much enjoyed reading.

Marvel's very own Jekyll & Hyde creation from the dream factory of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Stan Lee has said how he was influenced heavily by the early monster movies and in the first appearances of the Hulk they are clearly seen.
From Jekyll & Hyde, he has the split character of a scientist who becomes a monster due to exposure to Gamma rays from his own Gamma bomb.
From Frankenstein, Banner is both the scientist as well as the Monster who despite his looks can arouse fear as well as sympathy as he just wants to be left alone, as well as his looks, especially the flat head and heavily arched eyebrows.
At first, like a Werewolf, he changed into the Hulk at nightfall but Lee changes the story several times until we gradually ... Read More:

Any reader coming to this as a direct result of seeing the Iron Man movie, and unfamiliar with the comic, might be somewhat disappointed that the character looks so different. However, assuming this book will be bought by fans of the comic, and fans of the history of comics, then it should be a worthwhile purchase.

Here are the very first Iron Man strips from the early sixties, with all the anti-Communist paranoia of the era. The strip finds its feet as the collected issues move along, with the refinements in Stark's armour having more to do with the publishing realities of making Iron Man a more visibly commercial character. It kicks in proper with the Disruptor using a genetically modified 10' tall thug, the Smasher to further his political ends, the villain's identity comes as no surprise but the ending does and starts a new chain of deaths in Spidey's life.
A trip to Canada leads to a clash with the Hulk and the death of the lawyer who Peter Parker is seeking, and the weirdness of Aunt May's legacy. This is all but a taster for what is to come as Norman Osborn's memory returns and he once again becomes the schizophrenic Green Goblin and remembers Spider-Man's secret identity, this time with tragic results for Gwen Stacy who is flung ...
