'Hamlet' can be written about in so many ways. The tragedy which runs throughout is of great importance to the structure of the play's plot, the development of the many interesting characters, and the final bloodthirsty conclusion. Shakespeare carefully and thoroughly develops the character of Hamlet to display him as a person who suffers a weakness in making concrete decisions; like the typical young man that Shakespeare considers, Hamlet dithers, is led astray by wondering thoughts and even fears, and eventually falls into an abyss of madness which few other characters in literature can be seen to do. The book itself is well laid out, with a decent foreword and endnotes. Recommended.

You don't need me to tell you Twelfth Night is a wonderful play -- what you need is this new Penguin edition, which has the best introduction to the play on the market and at the lowest price going. The introductory material on the play's themes and its possibilities in the theatre and on screen is nearly as funny, sexy and engaging as the play itself. I'm almost glad my old Arden copy fell apart so that I had to buy this one -- it really is fresher and livelier.

All are adjectives that you would want to be able to describe a Shakespeare edition as, and, thankfully, this doesn't disappoint.
From the hugely informative, well researched and surprisingly interesting introduction, to the well layed out and easy to follow text, with the hugely useful index of terms set out on each page, this edition is designed to aid and enhance the reading of one of Shakespeare's great plays.
Antony and Cleopatra is a superb, and often underrated work of Shakespeare's, and The New Cambridge edition is the perfect starting point for anyone with any interest in the play, be it from a study point of view, an acting stance, or someone who just wants to read an extremely interesting ...
