. Mein Kampf
City Travel Guides > Books > Historical
by: Adolf Hitler
November 21, 2007
Well, may be I m going against the flow here, but this book, is one of the most boring, poorly written, waste of money and paper i ve ever read for ages.. Its full of hate, written by a guy who throw up his bitterness and hate of everything non German during pages after pages after pages..., like you would throw up when You re drunk....
It s brilliant to put you to sleep if you ve got insomnia though...
we all know about the context in which it was written and what it lead to. so, no need to make some fuss about it and call it a must read. when it s an absolute piece of human junk.and fuel for hate...
well. i read it.. did not like it, .. but that s my personal opinion.

. Walden: Or, Life in the Woods (Dover Thrift)
City Travel Guides > Books > Historical
by: Henry David Thoreau
1995-08
In a topsy-turvy world where madness, greed, and evil are now the perceived normailty and "common sense", books like Walden are confirmation that it is better to be different to the majority.
Thoreau elaborately discusses the wisdom which some of us may at times have pondered on. Many future denizens of Hell, jealously target human beings who are earning more Heaven with each passing moment, and attack them to try and weaken their soul. But a well-read and discerning individual perseveres with ease, and remains authentic.
A wonderful example is where Thoreau speaks of the utter futility of those who profess to be charitable, but are in actual fact a part of the problem. Thoreau gives an analogy of a slave breeder, who donates the proceeds ... Read More:

. Snowdon: The Biography
City Travel Guides > Books > Historical
by: Anne De Courcy
June 04, 2008
I have just finished a book on Princess Margaret, and was told that accomplished author Anne de Courcy had written an authorized biography about Antony Armstrong-Jones,also known as Lord Snowdon.
The book was written with his approval and full support, and he asked his many friends and acquaintances to make themselves available to Ms deCourcy
should she wish to interview them.
And it is a detailed, warts and all account of Snowdons life and many loves.
Tony's mother was an English Jewess, his father a Welshman. They divorced when he was just a boy. His mother was vain, unreasonable, demanding and self centred. She reminded me very much of the actor Peter Lawford's mother.
His father, a barrister was not a constant figure in his son's life ... Read More:

. Homage to Catalonia (Penguin Modern Classics)
City Travel Guides > Books > Historical
by: George Orwell
June 05, 2003
Note how the great Orwell never says anything positive about those doing the bulk of the fighting against Franco - in fact, note how he barely mentions Franco and fascism at all! In the course of the events he descibes in this book, he spends most of his time doing nothing, like the rest of his Trotskyist and anarchist friends. Meanwhile, the Republicans, whom he slanders from afar, were fighting and dying in the front line against the Nazi and Italian forces who enabled Franco's victory. Note also how he never says a positive word about the Soviet Union, which was the only country to help the Republic, while the British and French governments helped Hitler and Mussolini to intervene.

. Hitler
City Travel Guides > Books > Historical
by: Ian Kershaw
August 07, 2008
The best yet biography of Hitler, discussing in extent the first years of his life. Presents theories of how his ideas were formed backing them or dismissing them with extensive bibliography research. Even though the crucial matter on how and when his ideas were formulated is not definitely answered it is the best effort on summarising the available data up to date. Reccomended to the serious in depth researcher, with excellent notes for further reading. V.A.Kouts
