This book covers Bangkok and the Centre and East (Issan) side of Northern Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Yunnan in China.

This is a very good loop for travelers who are going to be doing this circuit around Southeast Asia.

The book is too condensed for my liking though. The book is small and lightweight (about 1/2 size of the Thailand guide book) but with that compromises have had to be made. It therefore seems to be similar in content to the Southeast Asia guidebook for the areas it covers. I would have preferred the book to be the size of the larger guides and covered more detail.

The are also some quirks with the book. Although the sections (countries) have a similar look and feel there are major ... Read More:

I won't go into much detail of how this book is written neither give this book moral evaluation like some people here do in their reviews. Especially the guy who gave it 1 star accusing Ms Jolie of doing little. Disgusted as that man probably wrote his wrote whilst seated at a comfy desk himself. Anyway, I personally enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to my friends. Below is a brief list of pos/neg sides of it.

- it gives you insight into the places most media have lost interest in, draws a vivid picture of places she visits in your own mind;

The information in it is accurate despite what the local taxi drivers may say!! Stand your ground!! There is no need to buy any extra guide books when you're there either - all of their information is included in this one.
The only thing the book doesn't prepare you for is the random overpricing that has occurred, the variation from shop to shop is immense. Shop where the locals shop and you'll save a fortune.
