.Honduras and the Bay Islands (Lonely Planet Country Guide) City Travel Guides > Books > Honduras by: Gary Chandler, Liza Prado January 01, 2007 Having just come back from Honduras and the bay islands last week, i and the group with me wouldn't have gotten around so easily without the lonely panet guide. Some of the info is a bit out of date, and something strange has happened to the economy over there in the last 6 months but its mainly accurate. Lots of information for the traveller. Recommendations...... Copan de Ruinas, go to the hotel Iguana Azul, quaint and friendly little hostel with private rooms. The mayan ruins are cool, but dont walk from the town, get a tut tut taxi, very cute and cheap. Gracius has some nice hot springs to visit. Roatan, west end. .Honduras (Moon Handbooks) City Travel Guides > Books > Honduras by: Christopher Humphrey 2003-09 This book was purchased brand new, crisp, clean pages all bursting with new information for me to absorb. Now, however, it's a moth eaten, dirt covered friend sitting on the bookshelf as a homage to the experiences we shared on our trip to Honduras. This guide was the first 'Moon' handbook I've ever used and I've got to say, I actually prefer it to the lonely planet/rough guides that I've used in the past. The guide holds information on all aspects of the Honduran culture and has everything the self respecting traveller needs to know contained within its easy to navigate chapters. .The Rough Guide to Guatemala - Edition 3 City Travel Guides > Books > Honduras by: Iain Stewart January 26, 2006 This guide proved to be a very useful companion during our trip to Guatemala in August 2006, and was very strong on hotels (we found some amazing places around lake Atitlan)and eating options.The maps were great and bus and shuttle connections useful and generally accurate. Check out the photo section for a good introduction to Guatemala - a wonderful country, allowing us to pick and choose from the highlights suggested. Tikal was very well covered, with tons of historical info. I have been through La Ruta Maya on five different trips and am a fan of travel literature on Central America, but I still learned many new things from this book, especially about present-day Maya practices. It is extremely useful and not too large to carry around. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a simple introductory guide to Mayan sites. Whilst there are really no good guide books on just Honduras, i found that the Rough Guide to Central America had the largest, and most imformative section on not only Honduras, but all the Central American countries - and all in one book! I have found the content a good mixture of general travel info for the area, cultural and historical background, and useful information about the practicalities of life.
