I have bought vol 1 and 2 and have found both cd's excellent. Undoubtedly it is a good way of learning particularly if you are an auditory learner-the phrases really do seem to stick in the memory.
I like the music although would have prefered some greek tunes for added interest.
My only real criticism is about the small book that is included with the cd;the way the Greek has been transliterated is confusing. I have virtually every Greek book on the market as I teach Greek and have never seen Greek transliterated in this way.
Another minor criticism for vol 2 is after listening to the cd over and over again the female speaker's giggling gets a little annoying.

It was with some trepidation that I purchased this book and cd combo. I was never any good at learning foreign languages and so considering that Greek uses a different alphabet to English too, I was half expecting to find the course difficult and frustrating. I also know that there are plenty of "learn at home" courses out there that are just rip offs - a lot of money for not a lot. Well, this was a snip, and has completely changed my attitude towards my own ability to learn a language!

Brian was a beacon of hope as I came to terms with life in Athens. Standing there in a crush, in forty-degree heat on a bus leaving Attiki station for home every day, I soon learnt I wasn't the only bemused Brit. Thanks to his humour I soon grew to love the quirks of the place I now consider my second home.

This book is great but you could do with being able to read Greek - though that's the best way to learn it anyway! It's not a serious study aid, but it's a good companion.

I bought this book after reading previous reviews that suggested it was extremely effective. It might well be if the recordings were available. It states very clearly at the beginning of the book that the 'LP' records that accompanied this series are no longer published. As learning Greek involves learning a completely new alphabet (& there is little transliteration in this book) - it is very hard going indeed. To be honest, I felt rather cheated as there is no mention in the product information that tapes/CDs are not available. Had I known that - I wouldn't have bought this course

I bought this CD to help bring my Ancient Greek up to the modern day. It is quite pleasantly presented, although obviously it is fairly low budget stuff. It doesn't teach you the letters or anything like grammar so it is a good idea to have a book to consult in parallel, but it does give you a reasonable basic vocabulary and gives you a good start in listening and speaking.
I had problems getting the software to run properly - apparently it is incompatible with the version of Pinnacle Studio I had on my PC (v.8). Their technical support is reasonably helpful, but I could only get the software to work after reinstalling Windows.
Now that it's working, it's a nice little package and I think worth what you pay for it. I will probably get the next in the series ... Read More:
