Although it is only 127 pages long, it is nevertheless an invaluable handbook for any student of the language, particularly for those working at GCSE standard or above. The book is divided into three main parts. The first, 'Accidence', sets out the entire system of Latin word-endings, with a number of tables that make it easier to learn all those pesky declensions and conjugations, pronouns and irregular verbs. .GCSE French: Workbook - Higher Pt. 1 & 2 (Workbook) City Travel Guides > Books > GCSE by: Richard Parsons January 30, 2001 Not being particularly strong in French, I searched around for some practice books, and recognising the publisher, I brought this one. I wasn't disapointed. The jokes, as in every other book in their series, are not very amusing, but everything was sorted acording to catorgory, and was layed out very simply. I was pleased to find there was practice in other parts of the language, not just verbs, which seem to feature most often in these kind of books. It tackles those grammar that are particularly difficult for English speakers in a pleasant and easy to understand manner. Besides some of its pictures elicity a smile. I thought this book was really, really useful. It doesn't have lots of vocab but covers the basics you need. The grammar is extremely well explained and was easy to follow. The Greek to GCSE books are both accessible and user-friendly. They contain the main parts necessary for an appreciation of Classical Athenian or Attic Greek, the language of Plato, Aristotle and Euripides, amongst a gorgeous treasury of others. Given the wealth of Attic literature (history, philosophy, religion, poetry and drama) a reasonable linguistic investment and decent dictionary will open up the doorway into the most fascinating world.
