... This was the first guide book to Lille that I ever read, and it is a fine example of the AA Essential pocket guides that are great standbys for weekend breaks. Some humour too, with suggestions of the gossipy and witty style that the author uses in his three city Bradt guide. If you just want a companion to the sites, galleries and museums (of which there are a great many), this is a useful purchase. But if you want to eat, drink, be merry and make an informed choice about hotels and shopping, pay the extra and buy the big three-city guide ...

I have found the AA Spiral Guide to Amsterdam to be an invaluable help, both in the planning of my recent trip to the city and also whilst I was there. It is a very clear and concise guide book, cleverly divided into several useful chapters. I found the directional arrows easy to follow, as well as the small maps..never too much info at once.And the quality of the photography is as superb as I would expect from an AA publication. All in all this is an excellant guide book to use anywhere.......but especially in Amsterdam!
