. My Life, My Way

Wow. Amazing book! I am still recovering from this book which cliff has written from the bottom of his heart. Thank you cliff for giving us an insight into your personality. For fans, it is a 'must' read, as we get to know so many intimate details like what he has for breakfast, his fears, his love and above all his frank approach to life and controversies which surround him. He not only clears the dust but also confirms what all his fans already know about him...that he is such a humble person, inspite of having millions of fans worldwide, especially here in India. My only regret was there were no contact details about his fan clubs nor an address we could write to, which could have been included in this super book.

. Silks
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Dick Francis, Felix Francis
September 04, 2008
Fear and gross inhumanity gain the edge in this new story by father & son writers Dick and Felix Francis. Previously they wrote "Dead Heat" together; Felix has also sleuthed much background material over the years. In "SILKS" they build on a successful pattern that had been enhanced by the sensitive touch of Dick Francis' late wife Mary.
The familiar locales, racetracks, pubs, roundabouts, flowered countryside form a background for an informative under-story woven throughout this narrative: a history of the English system of courts & law. It is a satisfyingly palatable way to understand some of the differences between 'their ways' and ours in the USA. And how about staying the night in that fascinating Oxford hotel transformed ... . No Time For Goodbye
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Linwood Barclay

I really enjoyed this novel. A fascinating concept - that a teenage girl wakes up one morning to find her entire family has gone. Just disappeared without a trace...And then she has to wait 25 years and to the making of a documentary about her life to find out the truth.
Fast paced, with excellent three-dimensional characters, I raced through this book in no time - it is truly unputdownable! I've heard a lot said that it's 'far-fetched' and has 'unecessary twists' and though this may be true, it is still great story-telling. I do feel that it's believable enough to hold your interest and the outcome, though given away a little easily, is worth the wait.
Highly recommended...

. The Official Highway Code
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Department for Transport, Driving Standards Agency

As has been mentioned - all drivers should have a copy of this book as it lays out very simply exactly what you should and shouldn't do in most situations on the road.
So many of us drive, ride or use the roads and we need to understand the ground rules - for less than the price of a pint, you can use it to dazzle your team-mates in pub quizzes, or settle those perennial arguements (what is the speed limit for a van on a dual carraigeway anyway?).
It's an absolute bargain - so if you find yourself frustrated by modern road designs and signs, or get confused by how to deal with some of the strange new junctions - get a copy.

. The House at Riverton
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Kate Morton
June 15, 2007
This book takes place in the beggining of the 1900s. It is ideal for those who like rich English family novels full of intrigues. The book is told on first person by the servant of the house that is now on her late 90s. Thus, the author keeps going back and fowards in time. During her years as a servant, a man kills himself and the only witnesses are two sisters, who after that will never talk to each other again. The story unravells the mystery.
the only aspect I didn't like of this book is that the author keeps on revealling what will happen before it actually does. In spite of this, the ending still came as a total surprise to me.

. Apache
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Ed Macy
September 01, 2008
It's hard to comprehend, on reading Apache, that this is a debut book. Ed Macy writes with such confidence and skill it really brings home exactly what our troops are facing every day. Rarely does a book hold my attention from the first page to the last, but there's something about this book that makes you want to continue right to the end. This book has everything Hollywood blockbusters can only dream about. Romance, action, cheers and tears, I went through the whole range of emotions. This book is definately worth reading, at least twice!!

. I Used to Know That: Stuff You Forgot from School
City Travel Guides > Books > Age (feature two browse-bin)
by: Caroline Taggart

This book is split into chapters based on the traditional school subjects, such as geography, history, maths, and then within each chapter split into 'typical things we were taught', ranging from the list of British kings to trigonometry to Charles Dickens.
There are certain chapters you'll skip, either because they were your specialist subject at university or because you're still not interested years later. But there are chapters you'll definitely be saying "I used to know that!" for.
It doesn't take very long to read the entire book, but that's only half the usefulness, because my copy will be taking a prominent place on my shelf- because next time anything that relates to these subjects comes up, I'll remember (I hope) that if I've forgotten ... Read More:
