Amazing book. I simply could not put it down. It made me cry in places and now my husband is reading it and finding the book equally moving. Stick at it, as its a slightly slow starter, but its worth the wait!

A great book to get you started in learning Thai. It is quite gentle in progressing the ideas that every serious learner needs to cope with and has a strong method of familiarity with Thai letters.
I agree with other reviews that the pronounciation of u in words like nung is quite confusing because to all intents and purposes it should be pronounced nang, but there is a lot of enthusiasm in this book.
Will really get you moving along!!

For years this has been on my list of books to read, when I bought it I got ten other books as well. I started reading three or four to begin with. This was the first one I left reading. When I got some of the other books read I went back to it, still no, I picked up a different book. After another while I went back to it but started a few chapters into it. This time I finished it.

The plot I felt didn't go far. The psychological aspect only got interesting towards the end of the book and could've continued into the boys during the aftermath of what had happened. That is what I would be more interested in.

I know that that wasn't really his message but I just think it would have made for a better book.

I bought Alan Bennett's books on tape for my mother. She used to listen to them in bed at night, lying in the dark as Bennett's gentle, querulous voice described the minutiae of his family life in all its banal detail, illuminated by his wonderful observation and humour. Any one of his sentences will raise a smile. A whole book's-worth leaves you glowing with a feeling that all of our lives are equally full of this richness. How could they not be, when Bennett has found so much in what appears to be such a constrained and circumscribed world? He is indeed a national institution and we are fortunate that his voice on tape is perfectly equal to the poignancy and intimacy of his writing.

Great one for the spiritual sceptics , stick with it there is something for everyone in here . Personally reccomended to a few friends something in here for everyone but if your reading it you probably dont need it , if your in doubt go check out the "is that so" chapter at the book store

This is a classic comedy which I first heard over twenty years ago.My neighbour at the time used to play his Julian and Sandy record on a summer Sunday afternoon with his back door open ( no pun intended) and I could hear him laughing loudly.There aren't that many comedies that make me laugh out loud but this is one. If you homophobic this definitely isn't for you. It doesn't take long to pick up the old "polari" . I think it's FANTABULOSA !
