I'm not a great reader of biography, but I was looking forward to this book as I admire Rick Wakeman both as an amazing musician and as a quirky character. This book is OK, and has a number of of interesting and amusing recollections from Rick Wakeman's career but it is rather rambling and self indulgent. Whilst it gives a sense of some of the bizarre and whacky things that have happened to him in the course of his musical career I was hoping for something a bit more interesting than in depth details of his drinking habits which seemed to feature on every other page... Now, this is a truly wonderful production. From the moment you pop the CD into your player you can tell that this edition of Winnie the Pooh was lovingly made by people who greatly admire England's favourite bear.

Stephen Fry is spot-on as Pooh, Jane Horrocks manages to make Piglet both loveable and adorably selfish, Judy Dench is a perfect Kanga and Geoffrey Palmer is a wonderful Eeyore. In fact, the entire cast does a great job. The adaptation is very true to the original, playful and sincere. The music is lovely and captures the spirit of the books admirably.

This is great value - 3 CD of chuckles and laugh-out-loud humour. The sketches have been separated to make it easier to navigate to your favourite ones (and there are some that have also featured on the TV series). One of the few narrative CDs I own and it's going on the 'favourites' list.

I've just completed both this and the advanced course and I think that they are both excellent and achieve very well what they set out to do.

I think that a lot of the criticism of the courses come from people who do not know before they buy them what Michel's methods are about.

These courses will -
- give you a solid grounding in the structure of the Spanish language
- teach American Spanish rather than Spanish Spanish if you get what I mean, though as far as I can tell the differences are mainly ones of pronunciation
- give you a great big boost of confidence after only a very short time; you will feel like you're learning really quickly.

Let me start with on a good point and say that michels technique is a true work of art
Its only when you have listened to the tapes a few times(and you will need to in order to completely digest it) that you realise how clever he is at making his point.
It really is as close as you can get to painless language tuition.
When I had ingested this course i was convinced that I could speek fluent french,however it is only the introductory course so you will be needing the avanced course after.Which is also exellent,and much more involved.
Now for the bad bit:
I can not for the life of me understand how Michel could have let the course be published with the female american student!!

As an atheist myself, I relished the coming of Dawkins' take on atheist theory. I wondered how he would tackle it. I found myself enjoying the flow of the book and reached the end with a few new interesting arguments and ideas (hadn't heard of his meme idea before, sounds like a bit of a dangerous oversimplification to me and a bit of a slap in the face of anthropologists and developmental psychologists) BUT at the end something didn't sit right. A bit like that feeling a few hours before you realise you are about to be violently ill after eating something dodgy. You can't quite put your finger on it. I wasn't happy.

OK so I bought the introductory taster course. It really works, i enjoyed it, i feel confident using the tones.. perfect. Only problem is that it is too short, so now I am buying the full foundation course - of which I have already done the first 2 hours. Go straight for the foundation course - it is a leap of faith to some extent, but it will save you a bit of money and more waiting around for the postman.

Great stuff!

This CD usually works for me and sends me to sleep.
It is marvellous to hear a woman's voice with a pleasant British accent on a sleep tape.
I do tolerate some men's voices, providing they do not sound aggressive. But I do not like most American voices, especially male voices, as I usually find them difficult to understand.
However I have reservations: she occasionally drops a 't', she uses the phrase 'more drowsier' twice and she mentions 'positivity' too much. These problems annoy me more and more over time.
