More than 20 years ago now, a good friend pressed a copy of "The Colour of Magic" into my hands that launched a love affair with Terry's books that lasts to this day. Like most frustrated authors who lack the talent to deliver themselves, I read a lot, and I think I have read pretty much all that Terry has written since 198whatever, and yes some of it is quite a lot better than some other bits, but his work has never once been a disappointment.

So I was delighted to see Nation appear on the shelf last week and have just used a rainy Sunday morning to finish it.

Bought this at a signing last week and I haven't put it down since. Parky has met some of the most important people of the last 40 years and lead a fascinating life. Despite all that success he remains extremely charming and humble, wrote a lovely message in the book I bought for my mum. Perfect xmas gift.

I have tried hypnosis CDs previously (Paul McKenna) without results or significant effects so when i stumbled accross Glenn Harrolds CD i thought id have one last go with a different hypnotherapist.
The results have been better than i could have wished, i lost 6 pounds in around 10 days and have kept the weight off too!
My weight is going down slowly and steadily and i think about food in a totally different way now.
I would recommend listening to any of Harrolds CDs once a week so as to keep your mind focused on your goals, it works better this way.

I fully praise this product for differing from the over populated language learning tools market. While the market has many examples of good books and CDs, they are yet to be combined in such a way as this.

The only fault I could really mention is that with the CD refering to the books a lot, it wouldn't be a viable purchase for learning in the car or on the move, for example. You'll need the time to put in to learning your chosen language, but should you put the time in it will pay off.

"Bit quiet since you-know-who retired" says one copper half way through, so let's get 'him' out of the way! This book started strangely - by page 50 or so, I was convinced that Rankin, a supremely accomplished writer, was having me on. It's a spoof! Lavender Hill Mob meets Ocean's 11. Surely these guys can't be serious?!! In fact I came close to abandoning it BUT then something happened. Not just one event or a certain page but something a bit more gradual. Rankin was being serious after all. Yes, he's still commenting on social divides in Edinburgh, but on other things as well. His take on the aftermath of greed reminds me of the 'Pardoner's Tale' and his treatment of guilt Poe's story 'The Tell-Tale Heart' which interestingly is mentioned. After half way, I was hooked. Don't get me wrong this was a brillaint book but it was a let down at the end. Myself and my fiance thought it would of had a better ending to the series that it had I was "eh why is it ended here that's stupid" she could of left us all hanging on and then released a new book saying all that and going into a bit more detailk than she did after all that would of kept everyone on the edge of their seats and she would of been able to rethink the ending because some of the ending could have been forseen much earlier in the series as myself and my fiance had guessed most of it was going to happen.

These CDs should really be purchased alongside the course book. After having ordered the CD set alone, I discovered that to enable a full understanding of what was happening, and to expand my reading and pronunciation and recognition of French, the course book was essential. May I fully recommend spending the extra £10 - if you really would like to benefit as much as is possible from the French Experience 2 Course, then do so. I have been learning French in for 2 years, and found this intermediate course study `just right' for the stage I was at. After following the `Encore Tricolore' scheme, this appeared to act as a perfect `stepping-stone' from Encore Tricolore 2 to 3. May I also recommend the other BBC Language books. [...]
