. Italian (Linguaphone Travel Pack)

I had to know how to ask for things in Italian before my first trip to Rome. The book is really useful for those essential phrases like 'please' and 'how much...?', and everything is put into handy little subjects. There is also a food section for when you go to restaurants and the numerous cafes. An excellent book for short holidays, with phrases in Italian and English and a small part at the front teaches you how to pronounce the words. 5 stars!

. Progetto Italiano

This workbook on Italian grammar and phrases is excellent for anyone learning the language alongside a course. It provides plenty of exercises to practise getting tricky grammatical concepts right and the examples and questions are all written in Italian, so not a moment is waisted in trying to use the understanding you are acquiring. The book goes along with the Progetto Italian language book which sets out the dialogues and main information, but it would work well with any course, as an extra study practise.

After reading many reviews - I chose this course and I certainly made the right choice. I have loaded the CDs onto my Mpeg 3 player and listen to them every morning on my way to work. As a complete novice to Italian, I now feel really confident about ordering wine and a meal (obviously the most important requirements). Easy to listen to and learn with no need to constantly refer to the book - although I carry the book with me and consult it when necessary. All in all, excellent!
