After reading such positive reviews from others I decided to purchase this book.
Yes it is a comprehensive guide on the whole emigration process. Yes it did get me to think about a few things I had not considered e.g. is it cheaper to take my fridge/freezer than purchase a new one there?
However I was surprised that this book gave me no further insight into the NZ immigration process than what I had already learnt online, which either means I've done a pretty good job of my research or that this book isn't worth purchasing unless you are going to use it as a starting point.

Took this book on our Honeymoon to Bali in September. Absolutely essential tool for finding the huge number of hidden treasures. We were at Nusa Dua which was poorly covered, but bare in mind that the Lonely books are for your globe trotting surfer.
But the rest of the island was very well covered and gave some great detail on the main attractions.
The Island guide was very useful giving details of local customs and amenities.
Would make sure this is in your pocket when you go.
A few tips
1. Watch the "helpers" at the airport, they will swamp you at the conveyor and fleece you for the pleasure of carrying your bag. Just say no.
2. If you are at one of the big resorts/ hotel complexes, hire you first taxi ... Read More:

This is a great book. My kiwi wife has always told me going to Invercargill is no good idea. Now I understand why. Joe Bennet writes short sentences, underscoring the puns. That can be irritating, but I find it's great. Reading this book as a New Zealander may be hard going on your national pride, though. This book is more fun than Where Underpants Come from

I browed the 2003 edition of this book from my local library and thought that is was good. I liked the layout (still do) thought that it had a lot of useful information mixed in with pictures. So when a 2008 edition came out I though great I will have the most up to date information with some added pictures. Or so I thought when I got the book I found that it is nearly identical to the 2003 one. There is only one extra page of information in the history. Flicking though the remainder of the pages I found that they are all the same, same pictures, some of the maps have been re coloured, and most of the text is identical too. The author give us many short and lively factual bits on Australia's culture, history and natural features. He covers everyone from Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee movies) to Ned Kelly (Victorian-era hero/outlaw whose colorful life was told in 3 movies - one starring the late Heath Ledger). Kangaroos, deadly snakes & insects, fave sports like soccer and cricket, and the ancient aborigines are all featured in this armchair tour of the Outback country visited by Mark Twain in 1897.
