The second (October 2006) edition of Tibet, the Bradt Travel Guide, is a welcome updating and expansion of the guidebook first published three years ago.

Michael Buckley has been writing guidebooks to Tibet for over twenty years, and brings a thoughtful maturity to the subject that is distinctive and invaluable.

I would recommend this book as the first and best to read before a visit to Tibet.

I have read every guidebook to Tibet published in recent years and have visited Tibet a dozen times. We just returned from a 2-week vacation in Zanzibar and found the island a beautiful place, thanks in large part to the excellent bradt guide for which I commend the publishers. It is extremely thorough and up-to-date. We saw various tourists with it. I thank the publisher's for the first-rate work on the book. When I go to Madagascar I shall certianly buy a Bradt guide!

This guide gave very good general advice about Lithuania today, as well as accurate details of sites worth visiting. Only drawback was the lack of photos.

Visitors to Lithuania please note: Comments regarding toilets - these are entirely true. Beware!

I have just nabbed a copy of this and found it really handy. Like the dragon pic on the front too. Its got lots of bars and restaurants which seem really up to date with euro prices as well as all the cultural stuff. We popped up to Lake Bled as well and it was handy for that too. There are some other day trips too but we didnt really have time for those. Guidebooks will never be perfect but this is the best we found for Ljubljana and it was a fun read too. Think we did end up loving it as much as they hoped we would!

I found this a helpful guide when visiting Riga, Taking the walks in the old city you do need a more detailed map.

If you have to go to Macedonia & need a guide book, then the chances are, this is all you have available in English.It may not be as well written as other Bradt guides & its coverage of certain features seem to be patchy ,seemimgly dependent upon the authors priorities & opinions, but you dont have much choice.Its a start, but Bradt should do better with guide like this. In its ( limited ) field, its the leader.Unless you need it urgently, wait until Travel professionals have re-edited the book for a revised & more comprehensive 2nd edition.

As usual it's the excellent standard of Bradt, you certainly dont feel you're trailing around the country on the same route as everyone else - lots of great ideas and suggestions.
